Politics

First off I would like to point out that all views herein are mine alone and not representative of any school that I may currently or in the past have worked for.

That said, I feel like somehow the concept of an eye opening college experience has been pushed aside for a more politically correct approach.  We have been told we should not discuss politics with students.  Now I most definitely agree that the classroom is not the place for political discussions.  However, that opinion is based on wanting to squeeze every moment of class time into lectures and example problems for the actual course you singed up to take with me.

Some people believe it’s wrong to discuss politics period, in class or not.  However, I disagree with that sentiment.  It’s in the discussion of differing opinions that leads us to find common ground, understanding, and maybe even modify our own views.  The debate is what’s important and its never been more important than now.

The more we shy away from people with different views and opinions the more we divide ourselves by our own actions.  This leads to countless people going into echo chambers in which they only subject themselves to people with identical viewpoints that help confirm their own beliefs.  However, hopefully you would agree, this is not logical.

In this section, I will be outlining my own political beliefs on topics with as much rational argumentation as I can muster.  You may or may not agree with me.  However, that is ok!  Because it would be a rather boring world if we all thought the same thing…
