Lecture Preparation

I do my best to arrive 15 minutes early (if there is a current class in the room) or 30 minutes if it is the start of the day. The goal is to provide time to go over examples in class, answer questions, or build report between the class and myself. Many students will come up to me whilst I am setting up with questions. While this is totally normal and acceptable, my initial obligations are to the entire class and thus another classroom policy.

If I have my earbuds in, please refrain from coming up. There are many things I need to do to get the class ready for lecture. Depending on the room I may need to, adjust the lighting, load up MATLAB, the Syllabus, your homework platform, let alone login. I have to get the markers ready, get out attendance sheets, setup my tablet and get to a new blank page, lower projectors / turn them on / test them, etc…

Therefore, not wanting to be rude, but wanting to start class promptly. So if the earbuds are in, I am finalizing the preparations. Once they pop out, I’ll reach out asking if anyone has any questions. Thanks for understanding!
